This is a painting of my brother and his daughter. This was at a little party I laid on for her as she was leaving home for university later in the year. I was trying a different, looser style than usual as the painting was for me. I was trying to paint the emotion of the scene rather than obtaining a perfect likeness; although it is undeniably them.
I think I captured the emotion – happy but sad.
